How to Maintain and Fix a Door Handle on 2004 Dodge Dakota?

To repair or service the front exterior door handle, catch the door trim panel and, when required, also catch the water dam to find the door handle. Roll the glass far enough so that the fastener access plug comes out of the door end panel. First, free the lock cylinder from the latch rod, then remove the outside handle from it as well. Take off the nuts holding the outside handle to the door and separate the handle from the door. For installation, set the outside handle in the door, fasten the nuts on the lock and tighten them to 5 Nm. Pull down the outside handle to close the door and then turn the key in the cylinder to lock the door. First, add the access plug to the door end panel and then move the water dam into place. Install the trim on the door as your final step.
