2004 Dodge Grand Caravan Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: Should Brake Discs Be Resurfaced with Every Brake Pad Replacement, and What Are the Guidelines on 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Although brake discs do not always have to be refaced, it should happen if the discs are deeply grooved, bent or if people notice roughness or pulsation in their brakes. This job should be done with a brake lathe on a car hub, since this helps keep runout to a minimum when it starts on the vehicle's hub and bears. The minimum allowable thickness of all discs is shown on an un-machined surface and must not be reduced during machining. Inspect the brake disc and both the hub adapter for chips, rust or other contaminants before installation. Working with the brake lathe, refer to the guidelines from the manufacturer and machine both sides at the same time so you get a balanced result. The TIR and thickness variation must be maintained within the required range throughout refacing and the requirements to machine brake discs can be found in the brake disc manufacturer's specification.
