  A: Before doing anything on the radiator drain plug, first make sure the entire cooling system is empty. Never try to take out the cylinder block plug or drain the radiator if the system is hot, since this can lead to scalding by the hot coolant. Do not try to remove the draincock with pliers, since this could damage it and only take it out if you observe a leak. Twist the draincock stem an additional quarter-turn to 9:00 o'clock, then take out the draincock system from the radiator. Inspect both the main body of the draincock and its O-ring for any problems and change them if you find damage. Place the assembly over the tank at the same level as the manufacturer's mark on the downside, then rotate it clockwise as you push it into the tank opening. After the draincock stem is closed, move the lever clockwise till it rests at horizontal level and top up the cooling system with a coolant.
