Dodge Intrepid Drain Plug Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service a drain plug on Dodge Intrepid?
    A:
When servicing the radiator drain plug, be sure that the cooling system is first emptied. Never unscrew the cylinder block plug or radiator draincock when the system is hot and pressurized, to keep safe from coolant. Removing the draincock with pliers isn't advised and should only be done when there is a leak detected. Set the draincock counterclockwise to the 9:00 position and move the assembly out of the radiator tank. Check the draincock body and O-ring for signs of damage and replace either one if damaged. Rest the draincock assembly on top of the tank opening, with the manufacturer's mark pointing down, then turn the assembly clockwise and push it into place until it snaps into the opening. With the draincock stem turned all the way clockwise, fill the cooling system with clean water and wait for the draincock to close.
