How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Return Hose on 2004 Dodge Stratus?

When servicing the power steering return hose, make sure the engine isn't running and that all fluid and engine parts are cool to prevent burns. Close off every open end of the hoses, power steering pump fittings and steering gear ports to stop contamination. The hose on the return side comes in two forms: the Return Hose With Tube and the Return Hose To Reservoir. Take out the ground cable for the remote connector from the left shock tower and remove fluid from the reservoir with the Return Hose With Tube. Lift up the front part and take out the splash shield of the wheel opening as you take off the left front tire and wheel assembly. Remove the pressure hose and the return hose from the power steering gear and after that take away the air shield below the left bumper reinforcement. Disconnect the clamp from the right end of the return hose tube, remove both mounting clips from the tube next, then slide the left side of the tube from its routing clips. Pull the return hose tube which is attached to the steering gear, outside the frame rail and remove it. For this part, empty fluid into the reservoir the same way you did for the ground hose, but this time you also need to remove the screw holding the reservoir in place and lift it off the bottle. Unlock the hose clamp, disconnect the return hose from the reservoir, remove the front fascia and only raise the vehicle again if necessary. Take the return hose out of the routing clip by the right frame rail and disconnect it from the power steering hose. To set up the car, move the Return Hose With Tube forward and tuck it under routing clips after reversing the hose operations. Secure the return hose to the reservoir, with the proper clamp and then connect the front fascia again. After the vehicle is lowered, attach the power steering hose again to the reservoir and secure it tightly. Install the mounting screw after pushing the reservoir down onto the guide on the engine coolant recovery bottle. Fill the reservoir, open the bleeding valve until all bubbles go away and look for leaks.
