2004 Dodge Stratus Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2004 Dodge Stratus?
A: To work on the rocker arm assembly, disconnect the negative cable from the battery and take out the cylinder head cover as well as the spark plugs. Locate the follower camshaft lobe on its base by rotating the engine until the piston moves at least 6.3 mm (0.25 in.) before TDC. When you disassemble cam follower assemblies, explain their original location to help you position them in the future. 8215-A and 8436 Special Tools can be used slowly to lower the valve assembly before removing the first rocker arm and repeating for all rocker arms. Inspect the ends of the rockers for rough spots or damage and if damaged, replace them. For mounting, apply engine oil to the rocker arms, depress the valve assembly with Special Tools 8215-A and 8436 and place each rocker arm on both the lifter and valve stem, doing this for every rocker arm. After that, replace the spark plugs, secure the cylinder head cover and link up the negative battery cable.
