2004 Jeep Wrangler Air Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Air Filter for a 2.4L Engine on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Begin the air cleaner service by removing the air duct at the front of the 2.4L engine cover. After that, use a small screwdriver to lift the spring clips from the bottom edge and pull the housing cover off. After taking off the housing cover, pull the air filter out from the housing. Before attaching the new filter, clean the inside of the component. To install, set the new filter in the housing and secure the housing cover over the locating tabs again. Use your hands to push up the spring clips so you can attach the cover to the body. When that's done, reattach the air duct where it belongs. If any of the air filter, air resonator, air intake tubes or air filter housing clamps were disturbed during the operation, fasten them to a torque of 5 Nm (40 inch lbs.).
