2005 Chrysler Crossfire Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before you start on the fuel level sensor, first remove the negative battery cable and drain your fuel tank. Remove the pieces of trim on the back seats and next remove the fuel tank partition by unscrewing the threads holding it in place. Separate the sensor cord from the fuel level sensor unit. It is helpful to put a shop towel under the sensor before taking it apart so you can catch extra fuel. Turn Special Tool 9240 so the drum is not pointing up and remove the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank with it. Put the fuel level sensor back into the fuel tank and turn it clockwise using Special Tool 9240 until it fits snugly. Afterward, remove the tool. Connect the end of the fuel level sensor harness back to its plug and attach the fuel tank partition to its place in the cargo area. Then, tighten the retaining bolts to 10 N.m (7 ft. lbs.). Change the trim panels in the cargo area, top off the gas tank to its former level and then attach the negative battery cable.
