2005 Chrysler Sebring Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Position Sensor on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before servicing or repairing the Throttle Position Sensor, disconnect the negative battery cable and the connector to the sensor. Unscrew the two fasteners holding the sensor in place and take the sensor out. Once you have the throttle body in hand, slide the throttle shaft end into the inside of the TPS socket which has two flat tabs the shaft should rest against. If the TPS is correctly indexed, it will rotate clockwise a little to line up its screw holes with those on the throttle body and it should offer some tightness as it is rotated into place. Should rotation be challenging, put the sensor in the socket so the throttle shaft is on the side opposite of the two tabs. Turn the mounting screws to 5.1 Nm (45 in. lbs.) of torque. After fitting the TPS, check that the throttle plate shuts well; if it remains open, slide the sensor back and attach it on the opposite set of tabs. After that, plug in the electrical connector to the TPS and put the negative battery cable back in.
