How to Maintain and Fix a Water Pump on 2.0L/2.4L Engines on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?

Before beginning to work on or repair the water pump on 2.0L/2.4L engines, first take away the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system. Then, get rid of the timing belt, both camshaft sprockets, the rear timing belt cover and finally, the engine attachment screws holding the water pump. When required, clean the areas where the gasket is pressed against. Check the water pump body assembly for cracks or other damage, leaking coolant from the shaft seal, uneven or rough bearings, impeller touching the body or engine block and if either the impeller or sprocket flange is loose or damaged. Should there be any defects, you must replace the water pump body assembly. While installing, insert an O-ring gasket into the water pump body and ensure it sits correctly to stop coolant leaks. Join the pump body to the block and tighten the screws to this torque: 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Move the pump with your hand to check its motion, add the rear timing belt cover, camshaft and timing belt and only then fill the cooling system.
