2005 Dodge Magnum Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for Pressure Hose on 2005 Dodge Magnum?
A: Before servicing or repairing the power steering pressure hose, take the negative battery cable off, then drain the fluid from the reservoir using a siphon. Take away the air cleaner cover and inlet tube to the throttle body. For these engines, turn the tube nut counterclockwise to remove the pressure hose from the pump. Lift and hold the vehicle and use that opportunity to remove the belly pan. Remove the screws that hold the pressure hose routing clamps on the engine cradle, slip off the return hose tube and remove the return hose from the steering gear. Untighten the housing nut and remove the pressure hose from the steering gear and your vehicle. When setting up, put a new O-ring around the pressure hose, apply clean power steering fluid and connect the tube to the steering gear without tightening the nut from the start. Wrap the pressure hose around the engine cradle on its left side and use screws through routing clamps to fasten it and then tighten the nuts on the steering gear pressure and return hose tubes to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) torque. Mount the belly pan, drop the car, grease the right end of the pressure hose, attach it to the pump and tighten the clamp with 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.) on both engine types. After all the steps above, place the air cleaner housing back in, install the inlet tube, link the battery negative cable and then add liquid to the pump reservoir.
