How to Maintain and Fix a Belt Tensioner on 2005 Dodge Neon?

Before working on the tensioner, make sure the arm is free and that it holds between 50 and 70 pounds of tension on the belt, allowing for very slight axial movement. First, get rid of the engine mount bracket assembly, then take off the tensioner pulley mounting bolt and finally remove the pulley. First, mount the tensioner pulley, dust shield and bolt, tightening the bolt until you reach 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) and don't forget to reinstall the engine mount bracket assembly.
