Put the 90-degree head of the external pliers against the boss, squeeze and use leverage to remove them. Draw the base of the light out slowly using the pliers or make a tool that can help. Remove the base wires and set the base separate, then get rid of the base mount ring. Before installing the ring, place it on the instrument panel with the wires running through the mount area and index the ring and cap at 9 o'clock by the key already found in the instrument panel. Attach the wires to the base so that the base alignment rib aligns with the groove in the mount ring at 11 o'clock. Put the base into the bezel and continue locking it, fit the cigar lighter cap and verify the element is working before reattaching the negative battery wire.
