2005 Dodge Neon Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: The first step in serving and repairing the fuel level sensor is to remove the fuel pump module. Press the tab to disconnect the pump/sensor cable from the bottom of the fuel module and then you can remove the blue locking wedge. To remove the fuel level sensor signal and ground terminals, first use a small screwdriver to lift the locking finger and push the terminal out and then push out the other two terminals. Pass the fuel level sensor wires through the hole in the fuel pump module and extract the fuel level sensor out of its channel. During installation, push the wires from the fuel level sensor into the bottom of the module and put their excess in the groove at the back of the fuel level sensor. Guide the wires into the groove and push the fuel level sensor up into the channel, letting it snap in and making certain the tab at the bottom locks snugly. Insert the fuel level sensor's wires up through the connector and then pull them down to lock, making sure the signal and ground wires are where they should be. Then, place the locking wedge on the connector, force the connector up into the bottom of the fuel pump module electrical connector and mount the fuel pump module back in place.
