2005 Dodge Neon Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a High Output Intake Manifold on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: Before starting on the high output intake manifold, pull off the negative cable from the battery and relieve fuel line pressure. Use several shop towels to cover the fuel hose so it catches spilled gasoline, then unhook the quick connect from the fuel tube assembly. Remove the fuel injector connector and harness from the fuel rail after that. Take the PCV tube out of the manifold, the air supply pipe from the intake manifold to the throttle body and the bolt holding the lower intake manifold to its support bracket. Take out the engine oil dipstick, pull the electrical connectors off the MAP sensor and MTV actuator and undo the bolts connecting the intake manifold to the cylinder head. Back the manifold up, open the plastic clamps, unhook the knock sensor and disconnect the brake booster hose prior to taking out the intake manifold. Before you install, wipe the manifold sealing areas, apply the gasket where appropriate and tighten bolts according to the order given in the manual up to a tightness of 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Set the new manifold gasket on the cylinder head, quickly slide the inlet manifold into the engine compartment and in between the mid intake runners, place the engine wiring harness. Couple the knock sensor and brake booster hose, then fix the manifold on the cylinder head and tighten all fasteners to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.), following the correct order. Put in the lower manifold bolt, secure it with 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), then attach the MAP sensor and MTV actuator wiring, place the engine oil dipstick in the slot and hook up the inlet duct to the lower manifold. Connect the fuel injector connectors and harness to the fuel rail, the fuel supply line to the fuel rail and once again connect the negative cable to the battery.
