2005 Dodge Neon Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 4-Cylinder Engine on 2005 Dodge Neon?
A: First, free the negative battery wire and let out all of the fuel system pressure before trying to service the fuel rail on a 4-cylinder engine. After that, remove the fuel supply tube from the rail. Release the bolts connecting the electrical connections to the fuel injectors and take out the fuel rail mounting screws. Be careful as you lift the rail so that the fuel injector openings are always protected. Remove the fuel injector retaining ring and raise the injector from inside the fuel rail. Replace the O-rings where required. Apply a little clean engine oil to the upper O-ring, insert the injector in the cup on the fuel rail and put on the retaining clip. Also, wipe a little clean fuel engine oil onto the O-ring at the end of the injector nozzle before placing and seating the fuel injectors. Secure the fuel rail mounting screws to 22.5 N-m ± 3 N-m (200 ± 30 in. lbs.), follow by connecting the electrical connectors to each fuel injector. After that, attach the supply tube to the fuel rail.
