How to Service and Repair a Fuel Rail on Dodge Neon?

Before you service or repair the fuel rail, take these steps, disconnect the negative cable from the battery and release all the fuel system pressure. After that, unplug the fuel supply tube from the rail and disconnect the electric connectors from the fuel injectors. Undo the screws installed in the fuel rail and lift it off the intake manifold, covering the fuel injector openings as you lift. Get rid of the fuel injector retainer and pull the injector from the fuel rail to put in new fuel injector O-rings. Remove any dirt or old oil from the injector groove in the fuel rail and oil the upper O-ring lightly. Now, install the injector, then put the retaining clip into place. After that, put a little clean engine oil on the O-ring at the top of each injector and insert them into the holes on the intake manifold. Tighten the mounting screws for the fuel rail to 22.5 Nm ± 3 Nm (190 ± 30 in. lbs.), join the electrical wires to the fuel injectors and connect the fuel tube to the fuel rail.
