First, empty the fuel from the engine and ventilate the space before working on the intake manifold. Before anything else, take the negative
Battery Cable off and afterwards remove the
Air Duct from the intake manifold to the
Throttle Body. Cover the fuel hose with shop towels and then disconnect the quick connect at the fuel tube assembly before turning off the supply. Put the screws away and be sure to not set the injectors' tips down to protect them from being damaged as you work. Remove the brake booster hose and PCV hose from the intake manifold as well as the electrical links for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and
Knock Sensor. Unplug the starter connection, lower the support bracket bolts from the intake manifold and gently unfasten and discard the manifold screws and their washers. Make sure there are no cracks on the manifold and inspect at the O-rings for rips or absence at the coupling surface. Prior to attaching the pump, wipe clean all surfaces meant to fit tightly together, use new gaskets and add fresh fasteners and washers. Put the intake manifold on the engine head, tighten the bolts as directed below and finish by tightening the lower support bracket bolts as indicated. With the
Fuel Injector holes open, make sure they're free of debris and secure the
Fuel Rail so the screws have a tightness of 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). Connect the PCV and brake booster hoses back, inspect the quick connect fittings for any problems and spray a light coating of clean engine oil on the fuel inlet tube as you connect the fuel-supply hose to the fuel rail assembly so it locks in place. Make sure to attach the wiring from the
MAP Sensor, the knock sensor and the starter. Hook the inlet duct up to the intake manifold and throttle body, use the wrench to tighten the clamp to a setting of 3 Nm and insert the negative battery cable back in place. Lastly, press the DRB scan tool's ASD Fuel System Test function so the system is pressurized and leaks are checked, noticing that the ASD relay will stay powered on for 7 minutes unless the ignition is turned off or you choose Stop All Tests.
