  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Door Check on 2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
    A: Make sure to turn off the negative battery terminal before servicing the front door limiter. Both the trim panel and a-pillar bolts should be removed. Removing the bolt/nut next will separate the check bracket, while then removing the door fasteners will take the check away from the door. To install, put the check through the door hole and screw it in place, aiming for 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.) with your wrench. Fix the bracket to the check and hold it in place with the bracket bolt or nut, tightening to 6 N.m (53 in.lbs.). Keep your check bracket mounted on the a-pillar and while you're doing this, apply Loctite(R) 243 sealant to the bolts in each check strap. Use a torque wrench and fasten the M6 bolts to either 35 N.m (26 ft.lbs.) or 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.). Afterward, replace the car trim and connect the battery negative cable again.
