2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Shock Absorber on 2005 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: You must first remove the floor covering in the driver's seat area and also open the tool cover on the passenger's side. After that, remove the cover for the upper strut mounting and take out the nut on it. Elevate the vehicle, then take off the front wheels. Lift the lower control arm about 10 mm using a jack, then take out the strut from the steering knuckle. When installing, only use hand tightness for the strut's upper nut at first, as tightening it before the vehicle touches the ground might damage the bushings. Connect the strut to the steering knuckle and twist it until you reach 185 Nm (136 ft. lbs.). First, lift the lower control arm to set the upper part of the strut into the car's footwell and then tighten to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.). Replace the wheels, lower everything so the vehicle rests and fit the nut covers back on. After that, attach the fresh floor covering and cover for the tools.
