2005 Jeep Wrangler Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace an Oil Filter on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To replace the oil filter, lift your vehicle on a hoist and place the oil container below where the filter is located. Before servicing, secure the remove/install tool band strap against the base lock seam where the filter can connects, because the can is reinforced in that area. Apply a suitable wrench to the filter, then turn it in the counterclockwise direction to loosen and remove it. Make sure the surface where the filter mounts is clear of dirt, gasket remains and is perfectly level before placing the filter. Use clean engine oil to grease the new oil filter gasket, put the oil filter in position, tighten it until you feel the gasket making contact with the base and stop at 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
