2006 Chrysler Crossfire Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Drive Belt on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Start by holding on to each corner of the engine cover and pulling it up to get the drive belt removed. Counterclockwise rotation of the tensioner will release the belt's tension and you can then pull the belt out of the pulleys. Remember to let go of the tension on the tensioner gently. Inspect the drive belt for damage and watch for damage or wear around the pulleys. Replace both items if needed. If you're working on an SRT model, start by removing the bolts on the air pump tube assembly and then go on to remove the belt like you would for standard models. Clear all the grease, oil and coolant out of the belt pulley grooves and make sure they are clean before you put on the drive belt. When the accessory drive belt has excessive wear, frayed cords or major glazing, it must be changed, while small cracks in the ribbed side are usual. Never use any dressing or restorer of any kind on the accessory drive belt. Route the accessory belt onto the pulleys, counterclockwise the tensioner, slip the belt onto the tensioner pulley and then release the tensioner and take away the wrench. After serving the supercharger belt, tighten both idler pulley bolts on SRT models to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) before finishing the installation. Afterward, attach the engine cover, so the clips line up with the mounts and run the engine to see if the belt is correctly placed.
