2006 Chrysler Crossfire Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Belt Tensioner on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: The first step to aid and repair the belt tensioner is to lift up on both corners of the engine cover. Following this, remove the accessory drive belt and also take off the pulley from the drive tensioner. Release all the bolts securing the tensioner, then take off the tensioner. Air pump tube assembly can also be removed from SRT by taking out its hold-down bolts, separating it from the switchover valves and detaching it from the engine. Turn the wrench to raise the belt tensioner and relocate the drive belt while it is loose. To remove the accessory drive belt tensioner pulley, hold the stud with a wrench, take out the nut, remove both tensioner bolts and take off the tensioner from the engine. Attach the belt tensioner to the timing chain cover and fasten its bolts to a torque of 20 Nm (15 ft.lbs). Loosen and remove the tensioner locking pin with a wrench and then set the accessory drive belt in place. Place the rubber mounts of the engine cover's channels over the clips, then push down to fasten them. Coat the rubber mounts with a tiny amount of lubricant to put on the engine cover without issues. Run the engine to determine if the drive belt is placed correctly and sitting properly before driving. Once the air pump tube assembly is connected, tighten the tensioner mounting bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.), fit the tensioner pulley to the stud and tighten it there, loosen the tensioner again and install the accessory drive belt.
