• Q: How to Properly Maintain and Fix an Intake Manifold on a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?

  A: Disconnect the negative battery cable and then uninstall the air cleaner housing and the mass air flow sensor to deal with the intake manifold. After that, separate the fuel rail with the fuel injectors and remove the connections from the vacuum lines to the EGR valve, brake booster, crankcase ventilator and purge valve. Separate the engine harness and the EGR pipe from the EGR valve. Open the bonnet and take out the air pump switchover valves as well as the bolts and gaskets of the intake manifold. To install, wipe clean the gasket surfaces of the cylinder heads and intake manifold, putting new gaskets on both and set the manifold in place. Install the bolts for the intake manifold and tighten them to 20 Nm (15 ft lb.) Then, tighten the air pump switchover valves to the same pressure. Attach the EGR pipe fitting to the EGR valve, using a 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) torque wrench and then place the mass air flow sensor in the engine harness connectors. After that, place back the vacuum hoses going to the crankcase ventilator, purge valve, EGR valve and brake booster. Put in the fuel rail with injectors and lastly install the air cleaner housing. After that, attach the negative battery cable, restart the vehicle and inspect for any leaks.
