How to Service the Cigarette Lighter on 2006 Dodge Caravan?

Before working on the Cigarette Lighter, first cut off the link to the battery negative terminal. Notice where the retaining bosses are, then set external snap ring pliers with 90-degree tips at that position and squeeze them against the bosses to release them. Pull the light-base up slowly with the pliers and slide the mounting ring aside, then take out each wire from its connection on the base and light ring. As you install, put the mounting ring in place, move the instrument panel wires through it and verify that the index tab on the cap points at the 9 o'clock position and key in the panel before finishing. Attach the wires to the base and line up the base rib at 11 o'clock with the hole in the mounting ring. Press the base into the lighter connector until it's secure, then check the lighter or element and set your lighter cap in place.
