2006 Dodge Caravan EGR Valve Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the EGR Valve in a 2.4L Engine on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: You should first disconnect the vacuum tube from the electrical EGR transducer and inspect it for any harm to service the EGR valve and EGR Transducer assembly. Then, free the electrical connector attached to the solenoid, remove the bolts securing the EGR tube to the EGR valve and take out the EGR valve from the cylinder head adaptor. Take out the old gasket and investigate the surface for leaks or breaks before you fix or replace it at your discretion. The EGR valve should first be installed with a new gasket on the cylinder head adaptor and then loosely secured are the EGR valve bolts to the EGR tube and cylinder head. Close the EGR valve bolts in the cylinder head to a torque output of 22.8 Nm (200 ± 25 in. lbs.) and the bolts in the EGR tube to the EGR valve to a torque of 11.9 Nm (105 ± 20 in. lbs.). After that, connect the vacuum hose as well as the electrical connector back to the electrical EGR transducer.
