• Q: How to Service and Repair an Ignition Lock Cylinder on 2006 Dodge Caravan?

  A: Before servicing the ignition lock cylinder, first remove the negative battery cable. Underneath the steering column cover, remove the screws, then use screwdrivers to pull out the screws holding the shroud and separate the lower shroud. Push the key cylinder to the RUN position, push the tab on the retaining tab at the base of the lock and take out the key cylinder. When you install, place the key in the cylinder and turn the key to the run position to press down the lock cylinder's retaining tab. Always make sure the socket on the end of the housing is in the Run position before lining up the shaft from the lock cylinder. Lay the cylinder in the grooves inside the housing and push it down until the tab comes through the opening. Make sure the key is in the Off spot and take it out. Place the lower steering column shroud into place, put on the steering column cover and attach the negative cable to the battery.
