2006 Dodge Dakota Flywheel Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Flywheel on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: You should remove the transmission to access the flywheel when needed. If your car uses a Dual Mass Flywheel, you will not need to take off the adapter plate. After that, remove the bolts securing the dust cover and set the dust cover aside. Ring Access Hole 43 to access the bolts, then use the Barring tool 7471B to rotate the engine and flywheel to make the job easier. After taking the assembly out, put the flywheel, clutch disc and pressure plate on a workbench. Lose the bolts for the pressure plate using a diagonal sequence so you don't warp the part. After the pressure plate's bolts have all been removed, take out the pressure plate and disc and afterwards, the flywheel. When doing installation, ensure the flywheel fits over the crankshaft or in the case of an adapter plate, over that instead. For both types of cars, tighten the flywheel bolts evenly to 95 Nm (70 ft lbs) and for vehicles equipped with a Dual Mass Flywheel, be sure to tighten the adapter plate bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft lbs). Install the clutch last and then put in the transmission.
