2006 Dodge Durango Radiator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Remove and Install a Radiator on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: Before taking off the radiator, disconnect the negative cable of the battery and drain all the coolant from the system. Now, get rid of the pushpins and the top condenser/radiator seal and next remove the air filter housing assembly. Untie the radiator hose at its top and drain the overflow tube, after which you need to remove the radiator fan shroud and the top of the radiator support. Lift the vehicle high enough to access its power steering and transmission coolers. Then cut the lines and remove the lower radiator hose, before lowering the car again. Unclip the upper radiator mount and remove both left and right side seals before you remove the radiator. Remove the power steering cooler and transmission cooler from the radiator if it is needed. For cleaning, wait until the engine is cool, use cold water and compressed air to push out debris from the back of the radiator. Search the radiator cooling fins for any bends or cracks, look at both plastic end tanks to check for harm and verify the radiator neck has no unusual shape. The first thing to do for installation is to put in the power steering cooler and transmission oil cooler. After that, secure the upper radiator mount and insert the isolator pins into the holes in the radiator's lower support. Set the upper radiator support in place, tightening the bolts to 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) and then fit the LH and RH radiator side seals, upper radiator hose, overflow tube and radiator shroud. Raise your vehicle after installing the power steering cooler lines, transmission cooler lines and lower radiator hose and then lower it before proceeding. Afterward, place the air filter housing, fill the radiator, link up the negative battery cable and test for leaks before driving the car.
