2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before working on the intake manifold, detach the negative cable from the battery. Take out the resonator assembly and air inlet hose, then separate each electrical connector from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor and Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor. Afterward, unhook the brake booster hose and the PCV hose and get the generator out and place it somewhere safe. You do not have to remove the refrigerant or sweep out the lines, so go ahead and remove the A/C compressor and keep it aside. Bleed the fuel lines and afterwards, unscrew the retaining fasteners for the intake manifold in a crisscross order, starting with those on the outside and finishing at the middle ones. Take out the whole intake manifold and associated IAFM as a single assembly. No approved method exists for fixing an intake manifold; if the inspection reveals severe damage, a new one must be put in place. Start by cleaning every part of the mating surfaces with a good cleaning solvent, allowing them to dry with the air. You should also check the intake sealing surface for faults, examine the intake manifold vacuum hose fittings for problems and inspect the space where the intake manifold meets the throttle body for broken or loose parts. The first step in installation is to put on the intake manifold seals, then position both the intake manifold and IAFM. Secure the intake manifold fasteners following a pattern from the center, then continuing around the outside and all the way to the edge, tightening each bolt to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Wrap the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, Coolant Temperature Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor wires with the connectors. After that, reattach the generator and A/C compressor and join the brake booster hose and PCV hose. After that, attach the resonator assembly and the air inlet hose and then secure the negative battery cable again.
