2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Thermostat Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Thermostat on a 5.7L Engine on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Always check that the cooling system is not hot and pressurized before working on the engine coolant thermostat. If you consider the coolant usable, empty it carefully into a sterile container. After unhooking the negative cable from the battery, drain the cooling system next. Take off the clamp and hose at the spot where they are attached to the thermostat housing. Then, unscrew and take out the bolts holding the thermostat housing, the housing itself and the thermostat. Place the thermostat and housing on the front cover, then secure the bolts of the thermostat housing to 13 Nm (112 inch lbs.). Put the hose back into the thermostat housing, top up the coolant, connect the negative battery terminal and run the engine to warm it while looking for any leaks. Check that the thermostat you buy is made for the specific model and type of engine in your vehicle.
