2006 Dodge Stratus Lateral Link Parts and Q&A
Q: How Does Lateral Link Facilitate Rear Suspension Repair and Servicing on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: Don't try to realign or fix the lateral link and never use heat on the adjusting screws or nuts. Make certain that the bushing with "A" on it goes to the crossmember and the bushing with "B" on it attaches to the knuckle for nonadjustable rear links. As you install, put the rearward lateral link, with its adjusting screw, toward the rear suspension crossmember. Lift the vehicle and equalize it on jack stands. Then, install the lateral link at the rear suspension crossmember, but do not yet tighten the bolt. After that, put the lateral link between the lever arm and rear knuckle using the provided nut, bolt and washer. Tighten the nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.). After that, tighten the crossmember bolt nut to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.). Following this, slide in the wheel and tire, then tighten the wheel nuts in a zigzag pattern to less than the required strength, then repeat the process until the nuts are tightened to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). After that, set the vehicle down and re-check and reset the rear wheel camber and toe to the required values.
