Start the service or repair of the wheel bearing by lifting up the vehicle and taking off the rear wheel and tire. For vehicles with rear disc brakes, remove the rear brake caliper and rotor by just pulling the rotor straight off the wheel mounting studs. If your vehicle has rear drums brakes, take out the brake drum. Then, use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the dust cap from the hub and bearing assembly. After that, take off the hub and bearing nut. Pulling the rear hub and bearing straight off the spindle finishes the removal process.
