2006 Dodge Viper Liftgate Hinge Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Liftgate Hinge on 2006 Dodge Viper?
A: Release the decklid latch, open the decklid and put up a suitable prop rod under it. Draw the outline of the decklid hinge on the vehicle with a grease pencil for help while putting it in place. Take off the rear wheels and the wheel well splash shields. Following this, get under the car to remove the bolts that join the hinges to the trunk pan in the wheel well, move to the tank area hinges and then remove the bolts that secure the deck lid hinges to the trunk pan. For installation, place the decklid hinge on the car and slide any shims collected while removing it on top of the hinge and underneath the trunk opening pad. Put the bolts through the hinge and trunk pan and secure them at 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Start by loosely attaching the bolts from the hinge to the decklid, place them over the marks that were made earlier and tighten them to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Check how the decklid operates and aligns it properly and install the splash shields and rear wheels, fastening them with the correct torque.
