2007 Chrysler 300 Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Crankshaft Seal Integrated into the Seal Adapter on 2007 Chrysler 300?
A: The rear oil seal must be accessed through the seal adapter and cannot be removed by itself, so first cut off the negative battery cable before moving forward. After that, lift the vehicle and remove both the retaining bolts and the splash shield from the underbody. Following that, take out the structural collar and the transmission. Once the crankshaft is removed, take off the center bolts to remove the flex plate, backing plate and the flex plate itself. Once the oil pan is out, remember that the steel rear seal you find is not interchangeable with the aluminum type made for the title engine. After that, unscrew the seal retainer attachments and remove the whole crankshaft rear oil seal/adapter assembly.
