2007 Chrysler Aspen Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Steering Knuckle on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: To put on the steering knuckle, first use mineral spirits to clean and dry the ball joint studs thoroughly. Fix the hub/bearing into place on the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts to 163 Nm (120 ft. lbs.). After that, hold the knuckle where it should be and attach the upper ball jointnut, then tighten it to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Secure the ball joint lower nut and tighten it according to instructions (95 Nm is about 70 ft. lbs.). After taking away the hydraulic jack from the lower suspension arm, fit the tie rod end on and tighten the nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Assembly of the 4X4 models involves fixing the front halfshaft into the hub/bearing, then placing the halfshaft nut and tightening it to the proper torque of 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Should you have them, fit the ABS wheel speed sensor along with the brake shield, rotor and caliper. Following this, assemble the wheel and tire, get rid of the support beam, lower the car and go through a wheel alignment.
