2007 Dodge Caliber Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Repair a Drive Shaft on 2007 Dodge Caliber?
A: The first step in servicing or repairing the drive/propeller shaft is lifting the vehicle on a hoist. Place marks on the propeller shaft and differential when installing appropriately. After that, detach the rear propeller shaft from the retaining nuts at the rear axle. After that, remove the three bolts holding the center support heat shield. Avoid getting the propeller shaft stuck in any angle while it remains joined to the Power Transfer Unit (PTU), the center bearings or flanges of the rear driveline, as it could result in damage to the joint, boot or center bearing because of the extra stress and cause vibrations in your vehicle. After that, take out the heat shield and both center support mounting bolts, followed by the propeller shaft.
