Dodge Caliber Drive Shaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install the Drive Shaft on Dodge Caliber?
    A:
Make sure the transaxle is in Neutral (N) and, if you find it hard to lift, ask a helper to help you place the propeller shaft assembly in position, inserting the propeller shaft spline into the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Match the marks on the propeller shaft to the ones at the rear axle flange and place the shaft over the studs attached to the flange. Next, set in place the center support and secure it with the center support bolts which should be tightened to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs). After that, fasten the propeller shaft nuts and tighten them to 58 Nm (43 ft. lbs.) and then tighten the heat shield nuts to 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). At last, check the PTU fluid level first.
