2007 Dodge Charger Tie Rod End Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Tie Rod End for Inner on 2007 Dodge Charger?
A: Start the inner tie rod repair by fitting the travel restrictor beveled-side-out on the end of the rack gear and levelling it. Do this with Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive or an identical thread locker adhesive on the inner tie rod threads close to the steering knuckle. Secure the inner tie rod to the gear using either the proper rifle-type tool or a crows foot wrench, turning it so the torque reaches 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.). After clamping your new bellows over the large portion, gently place it above the tie rod as far as it will go. Insert the following of the bellows through the hole in the inner tie rod. Skim a little lubricant across the hole on the inner tie rod shaft to make it easy to adjust toe angles without twisting the flexible sleeve. Pull the bellows' smaller end from the mechanism so the ridge fits perfectly into the groove and then replace the clamp over the end. Twist the clamp on the bellows firmly with crimping pliers close to the gear body. Should the vehicle have an All-Wheel-Drive system and the back heat shield is removed, mount the heat shield above the inner tie rod bellows and tighten the screws to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.). Once the inner tie rod is installed, put the tie rod jam nut onto it so the outer tie rod is pushed into place enough to be installed.
