How is a Muffler Installed on 2007 Dodge Durango?

The band clamps are not reusable so it is necessary to replace them during installation of the muffler. First, lock the muffler in place on the catalytic converter or exhaust tube, making certain the tang seats tightly into the tang location. Next I install new exhaust clamps without tightening them at the moment yet. Then proceed to install the muffler isolators; be sure they are not stretched, with a minimum of 1.65 in. (42 mm) between the hanger rods. Hold the muffler in alignment over the exhaust pipe and tighten the exhaust clamp nuts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
