2007 Dodge Durango Catalytic Converter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Properly Service or Replace a Catalytic Converter on 2007 Dodge Durango?
A: Don't forget to unplug the oxygen sensor connector when handling anything related to the exhaust system to avoid harming the harness or sensor. After taking out the band clamps, new ones need to be used. Check if the catalytic converter assembly 3 has no burrs before putting it in the exhaust pipe 2 and verify the alignment tang is being placed all the way into the alignment slot. Put the catalytic converter assembly into position with the exhaust manifold and fasten flange nuts and bolts, not tightening them for now. Should some other sections of the exhaust system become loose during removal, tighten them back using the specified process. Connect a new clamp and nuts at the outlet of the catalytic converter to the extension pipe, but don't tighten them yet. Ensure assembly 3 is correctly placed and properly aligned, so the catalytic converter has at least 25mm (1 inch) of clearance from nearby components and all muffler isolators are unstretched, giving about a 42mm (1.65in.) gap between insulator rods. Fix anything that may be wrong. Apply 33 Nm (25 ft. lbs.) of torque to the bolts on the exhaust manifold flange and 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) of torque to the clamp nuts. Remove the vehicle's jacks, drive it down, start the car, inspect for exhaust leaks and fix any you find.
