2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Replace an Automatic Transmission Filter in the AS68RC on 2007 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: First, raise the vehicle and put a big drain pan underneath the transmission pan for draining the fluid. Loosen bolt 1 to allow oil to flow out and take out the bolts on the transmission case draining rid of the pan. After that, remove the transmission oil filter bolts (3) and remove the transmission oil filter together with its O-ring from the valve body (1). At the end, inspect the pan bottom, under belt magnets (1) and drain plug (2), looking for large amounts of metal; but if the clutch works, up to a light coating is acceptable. Should the contamination be extreme, more examination is necessary. Soak and wipe the pan and magnet with an appropriate solvent and use a gasket scraper to take off the original sealing material from the transmission case and the pan. Apply Mopar(R) As68rc Atf to the seal around the new transmission oil filter, put it on the valve body and into the oil pump and use a 10 Nm (88 in.lbs.) torque wrench when tightening the bolts (3). Replace the gasket on the property with a new transmission oil pan gasket, put the pan back in place on the transmission and tighten the bolts to six newtons or 62 inch-pounds. After that, attach the transmission drain plug bolt (1) and tighten it to 27 Nm (20 ft.lbs.) torque, bring the car down and fill the transmission with Mopar(R) As68rc Atf.
