You should disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, allow two minutes for the air bag system capacitor to discharge and then handle any part of the steering wheel, column or instrument panel. First, remove the negative cable from the battery, after which you should remove the instrument panel's central bezel. After that, remove the four screws holding the A/C-heater control to the instrument panel and gently pull the control straight towards you. Open up the tab by which the cable is secured at the rear of the A/C heater control to disconnect the blend door control cable. Take a small pick or tool with a blade, work the connector lock loose, unplug the A/C-heater control wire connectors and then pull the control from the back of the heating unit.
