2007 Jeep Compass Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Service an Instrument Cluster from the Dashboard on 2007 Jeep Compass?
A: First, pull out the negative cable from the battery, so the air bag does not unintentionally open and proceed only after making everything safe. To start, get rid of the floor console and the shifter mechanism, then the cowl side panels and lastly the passenger air bag. Separate the two halves of the snap clips and open the steering column by taking off the cover with a trim stick or the equivalent tool. Unscrew the two screws to take off the steering column reinforcement. Again, with the trim stick, pull off the upper panel over the center bezel and radio and then remove the compass module under the upper panel. After that, take out the screw holding the HVAC to I/P, cut off the electrical connectors on the A-pillar and pull off the two end caps and their support bolt. First, take out the silencer on the passenger side, next remove the radio antenna and third the wire harness from the HVAC system. Take off the two bolts from the fence line, divide the center wire harness in two and separate the connectors at the driver's side cowl and A-pillar. Lastly, remove the three bolts that hold up the panel and the end cap, along with the four bolts on the driver's side, before you lift the panel from the car.
