2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before servicing or repairing the fuel rail on a 3.7L engine, ensure you release the pressure in the fuel system, as this remains under constant load when the engine is turned off. Replacing the left and right fuel rails as a set is important, as you should not take the rails apart at the connector tubes that don't use clamps. Be gentle with the tubes in the assembly as you take out the fuel rail from your car. Remove the filler tube cap first and then release the fuel system pressure. First, remove the link between the negative terminal on the battery and the battery. Then, take out the air duct and air box at the throttle body. First, disconnect the air resonator bracket from the front of the throttle body and then use a specially made tool to unfasten the latch clip and fuel line at the fuel rail. Then, remove any vacuum hoses attached to the throttle body and pull back the red slider on each fuel injector, press down on the tab and take out the connector. Each of the factory fuel injection wiring harnesses is marked to show its corresponding injector position. Turn off the power, remove all contacts from the two throttle body sensors and remove six ignition coils. Following that step, undo the bolts that secure the fuel rails to the engine. Rock and pull the fuel rail from the left side gently until the injectors start clearing, afterward complete the process on the other rail so all injectors clear their holes. After preparing everything, take off the fuel rail that is still holding the injectors from the motor. If you have to remove the fuel injectors, use the correct removal process.
