2007 Jeep Patriot Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace an Oil Filter and Engine Oil on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: Begin by running your engine until it become warm, then bring the car to an even position and stop the engine. Open the oil cap and hoist the vehicle upwards. Park your car on a level surface, place an oil collecting container under the drain plug (2) and then remove it to let the oil come out; inspect the drain plug threads and replace the plug and gasket if required. Next, open the oil filter (1) and fix in the oil pan drain plug (2), applying a force of 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Replace the oil filter, tightening it so the torque is between 14 Nm and 10 ft. lbs., then place the vehicle back on the ground before pouring in the right type and amount of engine oil through the oil fill hole. First, start the engine to view for any leaks, then stop it to look at the oil level. Every engine takes a full-flow, disposable type oil filter and it should be replaced with a Mopar or similar filter. It is necessary to dispose of old engine oil correctly, because it may be hazardous; likewise, keep washed or exposed skin away from gasoline, diesel fuel, thinner or solvents.
