2007 Jeep Patriot Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front-Wheel-Drive Speed Sensor on 2007 Jeep Patriot?
A: In order to service the wheel speed sensor on a front-wheel-drive vehicle, start by getting rid of the cargo floor cover and the rear floor pan silencer. Remove the nuts securing the receiver or amplifier to the bottom of the car, if applicable and disconnect the wiring for the wheel speed sensor by opening the quarter panel opening. Withdraw the wheel speed sensor cable connector (2) from behind the wheel speed sensor through this opening. When that's done, park the wheel over a jack stand to support it, loosen (3) and remove the wheel mounting nuts and remove (1) the tire and wheel assembly. Take the grommet (2) off from the body (1) and pull the wheel speed sensor cable out through that hole. Remove the speed sensor clip (3) from the outside frame rail (4) as well as the screw (1) holding the cable routing clamp (3) to the rear suspension crossmember (4). Next, disconnect the routing clip (1) from the bottom link (2) and remove the screw (4) securing the cable routing clamp to the same part. Next, take out the screw (1) that is holding the wheel speed sensor head (3) in the rear of the hub and bearing (2) to bring the sensor loose from the car.
