2008 Dodge Challenger Alternator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove an Alternator on 2008 Dodge Challenger?
A: The first step is to disconnect the negative battery cable before you take out the alternator to avoid harm to the electrical system. After that, take out the generator drive belt. After that, remove the upper bolt that anchors the generator to the mount. Lift and secure the car from its bottom, then take out the lower splash shield. Tilt the transmission cooler line down and unhook the bolt from the clamp on the crossmember. Move the transmission cooler line into a new position. Get to the generator support bracket nut by first taking out the heat shield's two mounting bolts from the right engine mount. Don't take the support nut off the generator bracket, but simply loosen it. Then proceed to remove the designated bolt. Release the plastic cap from the B+ output terminal and take away its nut on the back of the generator to detach the terminal. To remove the field wire, press on the tab within the terminal block rear side of the generator. After that, remove the last bolt underneath the generator and remove the generator from the vehicle.
