2009 Dodge Challenger Alternator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install the Alternator on a 3.5L Engine on 2009 Dodge Challenger?
A: To fit the generator on a 3.5L engine, put it to the engine and then loosely fit the generator's lower bolts. Once you have the bracket in position, loosely set the bracket bolt and upper generator bolt so both can be tightened after you have installed the generator. Turn the generator mounting bolts approximately 65 Nm and the generator bracket bolt 54 Nm. Attach the field wire connector to the generator first, after that put the B+ terminal and nut on the generator mounting stud and tighten the nut to 13 Nm. Connect the plastic protective cover to the B+ terminal. Locate the transmission cooler line and put the clamp bolt on the transmission cooler line onto the right crossmember. Clamp the middle splash shield and bring the car down in the lift. Properly routing the accessory drive belt while installing it will keep the water pump from rotating backwards and thereby help prevent engine overheating. Loosely install the drive belt and attach the negative battery cable, tightening the bolt to 5 Nm.
