Put alignment index marks on the flange surface of the transmission and the axle and on the external edge of each rubber coupler. After that, take off the rear exhaust system and the heat shield retainers to remove the heat shield. Begin by loosening both the front coupler-to-flange bolts and afterward all rear coupler-to-flange bolts. After you remove the top and inner cover, lift out the center bearing mounting bolts. With help, release the propeller shaft assembly from the mount. Before doing coupler and damper service, remove all of the coupler-to-propeller shaft bolts and nuts and take the coupler and damper off the propeller shaft, remembering the direction and orientation of the parts for correct reinstallation.
